History

The new Diocese of Chingleput covers an area about 4, 000 sq kms in the southern part of Madras - Mylapore Archdiocese. It has a Catholic population of over 130, 000, consists of 56 parishes with 41 diocesan priests, 24 religious priests, 35 religious brothers and over 600 religious women. The Episcopal See of the new Diocese of Chingleput is at Attur and the Parish Church of Chingleput is the Cathedral of the new diocese.
