The first Bishop of Jowai, Bishop-elect Vincent Kympat was born in 1946 and ordained priest in 1977. He did his Philosophy at Christ King College in Shillong and Theology at Sacred Heart Theological College in Poonamallee, Tamil Nadu. After his graduation in Education he specialised in Catechetics from the Salesianum in Rome. During his long priestly ministry, Bishop-elect Vincent was Assistant Parish Priest, Parish Priest, Director of the Catechists Training Centre and Junior Teachers' Training Centre, Rector of Christ King Collage and visiting professor at Oriens Theological Collage and Sacred Heard Theological College and was the Director of the Laity Formation Centre in Shillong at the time of his appointment as Bishop of Jowai.
