Individuals
And Institutions Need To Communicate More: Bishop Chacko
JHABHUA,
MAR. 11, 2008 (CBCI News):
“The
whole Church is called to be a communications community, and hence
all individuals and institutions should communicate more,”
declared Bishop of Jhabua Chacko Thottumarickal here on March
10.
Bishop
Chacko was speaking at an inaugural session of a two-day workshop
organized by the Communications Commission of Jhabua and the CBCI
Commission for Social Communications.
The communications workshop is being held on March 10-11, 2008.
“Communication
is an essential dimension of the human person. We all want to
communicate. It is an expression of our relatedness,” added
Bishop Chacko.
“The
mission of he church is to communicate the Good News. The CBCI
plenary assembly in 2004 called us all to be a communicating church,”
the Divine Word (SVD) Bishop reminded.
“Communication
is not the prerogative of a few specialized people. It is not
to be restricted to the handling of electronic equipments like
camera, camcorder and broadcasting equipments only”, cautioned
Bishop Chacko.
“Reaching
out to the other is communication. Opening our minds with a listening
attitude is communication. It is a two way process. When we do
that, all our services become more fruitful,” affirmed the
Bishop Chacko heading the recently formed Diocese.
“Many
of our problems arise from the fact that we do not communicate
or do it insufficiently. Many misunderstandings are due to lack
of communication. I wish that we all become more communicative
and thus become more effective in all that we do,” he added.
