Summer Courses In Fine Arts Conclude

“Children
should be encouraged to imbibe the taste for Indian culture and
classical arts, because that is what makes them love the country
and its greatness. Sandesha is doing really great and meaningful
work in this direction,” said noted artiste and educationist,
Dr M Mohan Alva, at Sandesha here on May 3.
Dr Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation Moodbidri,
near Mangalore, was speaking as the Chief Guest at the Valedictory
function of the Summer Courses 2008 held at Sandesha from April
14 to May3.
The
courses were inaugurated on April 14 by Kum. Ester Noronha, a
talented Bharatanatyam, Carnatic Music and Piano artiste who called
upon the participants of the camp to make the best use of the
God- given talents and thus enrich the society.
She
also presented Bharatanatyam and Carnatic Music recitals.
There
were altogether 213 students from the district and outside, participating
in the summer courses which are intended to help the students
spend their holidays gainfully and also help them develop their
latent skills.
Classes
were held in Bharatanatyam, Keyboard, Carnatic Music, Art &
Crafts, Drawing & Painting, Guitar, Drums, Spoken English
and Public speaking.
Certificates
were presented to the participants by the Chief Guest. The teachers
of the summer camp and Sandesha staff were honoured on the occasion.
The
participants gave a glimpse of the skills they had learnt at the
camp through cultural items.
Fr
Valeian Mendonca, the new director of Sandesha welcomed the gathering.
