Bishop of Eluru Dies

Rev. John Mulagada, Bishop of the Diocese of Eluru in Andhra
Paradesh died at 12.15 p.m. August 16 at at a private hospital
in Vijayawada. The funeral will take place on the 18th (Tuesday)
at 10.30 a.m. at Amalodbhavi Cathedral, Eluru, West Godavari
District, Andhra Pradesh. He has been ill for the last few weeks.
Bishop Mulagada was born to Mr.Premanandam and Mrs. Deenamma
on the 12th December 1937 at Parripadu village. He completed
his seminary studies at St. John's Seminary, Hyderabad and was
ordained a priest on the 4th of January 1965. He was appointed
the first bishop of newly erected diocese of Eluru and his episcopal
ordination took place on the 5th of May 1977.
He served as the Pastor of the Diocese of Eluru for the last
32 years and developed the diocese in all the ways. He started
so many good projects for the welfare of the poor people of
the diocese. Indeed, he proved himself as a good shepherd and
was loved by the people very much. Bishop John was a great devotee
of Mother Mary and started several shrines of Our Lady in the
diocese of Eluru, the major shrine being at Nirmalagiri, as
the shrine of Nirmalagirimatha.
Most Rev. John, the Bishop of the diocese of Eluru of Andhra
Region, breathed his last in the noon at 12.10 p.m. on the 16th
of August 2009
