Inter-religious Rally for Peace and Harmony in the Lake City,
Udaipur

Maitri Sangh, Udaipur organized an inter-religious peace rally
for the people of Udaipur town in which more than 300 people
of various religious groups marched with peace messages of the
various religions in the rally. The rally started at 4pm at
Maitri sadan the headquarter of Sarv Dharma Maitri Sangh by
Mrs. Rajani Dangi, the mayor of Udaipur. In her inaugural speech
she praised and thanked Sarvdharm Maitri sangh and it’s
Director Dr.Norbert Herman SVD for the efforts and tireless
work that the Sarvdharm Maitri Sangh is doing for the city of
Udaipur. She also said that all the religions are channels of
Peace and Harmony and today there is a great need to come together
to do humanitarian services for all. She emphasized that the
religions must go beyond its ritualistic practices and work
for Peace and fraternity. In her Christmas message she said
that the Lord Jesus bring Joy and Happiness to all. She also
planted peace tree and started rally by white flag which passed
through various places in the city Udayapole, Suraj Pole, Ashwini
Bazar, Dhaligate, Hathi Pole, Chetak Circle and Sukhadia Circle
where people of various religions welcomed the rally.
The attraction
of the Peace rally was the crib mounted on the camel cart, which
was in the traditional style rotating with angels, shepherds,
goats, sheep and Baby Jesus in the lap of Mother Mary and Joseph.
The rally also had Sarv Dharma float, rajasthani traditional
groups giving messages of Peace. Rally was welcomed by various
religious leaders representative of Asthal temple Sanjay Jain,
Sayeedaraj of Bohra community, Dr.Sujan Singh of Sikh community,
Sandeep Singhatwadia of Jain Community. Mr.Albin D’souza,
Director of St.Anthony School, Sr.Joytsna principal of St. Mary
School also said that there is a need for peace, religious harmony
and brotherhood in today’s World.
The peace
rally finally reached our lady of Fatima Cathedral at 8 pm where
Most Rev.Bishop Joseph Pathallil of Udaipur welcomed the rally
and delivered the peace message and freed a pigeon as a symbol
of freedom and peace to the whole World. Mr.Anil Bhatt anchored
all through out the rally and Mr.Sandeep SInghatwadia, president
of Sarv Dharma thanked all the people who helped for the success
of the inter-religious peace rally.
