New Eparchies of Pathanamthitta and Puthur created

	New Eparchies of Pathanamthitta and Puthur created NEW DELHI, Jan. 28, 2010, 11.00 Hrs (CBCI News): His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis, Major Archbishop-Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, with the consent of the Synod of Bishops of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, having obtained the assent of the Holy See, has created the Eparchies of Pathanamthitta, by carving out the ecclesiastical districts of Konni, Pandalam, Pathanamthitta, Ranni-Perunad and five parishes from the Ecclesiastical District of Adoor, (namely – Anandapally, Angadical, Chandanapally, Pongaladi and Thatta) from the Archieparchy of Trivandrum, with its See and the Headquarters at Pathanamthitta and the Eparchy of Puthur by carving out the civil districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Mysore, Chamarajnagar, Kodagu, Hassan, Chikamagalore, Shimoga Mandya, from the Eparchy of Bathery, with the See and the Headquarters at Puthur. At the same time, the Holy Father has given his assent to the following appointments: Right Rev. Yoohanon Mar Chrysostom, Bishop of Marthandom, as Eparchial Bishop of the new Eparchy of Pathanamthitta. Rev. Geevarghese Mar Divannasios, Bishop of Bathery, as Eparchial Bishop of the new Eparchy of Puthur. Right Rev. Joseph Mar Thomas, Auxiliary Bishop of Trivandrum and Apostolic Visitator to North America and Europe, as Eparchial Bishop of Bathery. Rev. Fr. K. M. Vincent Kulapuravilai, Clergy of the Eparchy of Marthandom, as Eparchial Bishop of the same Eparchy. Rev. Fr. Samuel Kattukallil, Clergy of the Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum, as Auxiliary Bishop of the Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum, assigning him the Titular See of TAMALLUMA. Rev. Father Stephen Thottathil, Clergy of the Archieparchy of Tiruvalla, as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archieparchy of Tiruvalla, assigning him the Titular See of SOZOPOLI di EMIMONTO. Rev. Father Anthony Valiyavilayil, OIC, Clergy of the Order of the Imitation of Christ, as Curia Bishop of the Archiepiscopal Curia of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, assigning him the Titular See of IGILGILLI. These ecclesiastical provisions were made public on 25th January, 2010 at 4.30 p.m. (IST), and were formally announced in L’Osservatore Romano that was published on 25th January with the date of 26th January, 2010 in the Vatican City			`
