The
Long March is on for the past one month from Kanyakumari to Chennai
demanding equal rights for Dalit Christians. On 5th March 2010
the March concludes with a public meeting at Chennai.
The
police prevented the marching people to walk through the city
of Chennai and the Chief Minister was not prepared to meet the
delegation of Bishops and leaders. Most Rev. A. M. Chinnappa,
Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore, Most Rev. Peter Fernando, Archbishop
of Madurai, Most Rev. A. Neethinathan, Bishop of Chinglepet were
arrested.
This
is the way the State Government and the Union Government respond
to the legitimate democratic struggles of the peace-loving Christian
community. Let the entire Christian community awake and respond
to the state repression. |
