Communication for Pastoral Leadership (CPL) Workshops for Formators to be Held

NEW DELHI, May 12, 2010, 16:55 Hrs (CBCI News):

The CBCI Commission for Social Communications is organising a series of workshops for the formation personnel in different parts of the country this year. The workshops are intended to orient formation personnel in seminaries and formation houses to introduce social communications in the formation of candidates to priesthood and religious life.

The Commission has published a three-volume comprehensive course on social communications titled Communications for Pastoral Leadership (CPL). It has also prepared a set of teacher resources and established a website (www.communicationformation.com) to support the programme. A national resource team is available to offer training and support to seminaries and formation houses in India.

The workshops are organized at three levels or stages of formation to help formators to plan and systematically introduce social communications formation in seminaries and formation centres. Level I based on the book Basics of Social Communication is intended for those who are responsible for formation in Apostolic Schools, Minor seminaries, Pre-novitiate houses. Level I workshops are useful also for those who intend to introduce basics in communication among Catholic youth groups, in pastoral centres, youth hostels and boarding schools.

Level II is intended for those who are involved in formation of students of Philosophy, Regency, Novice Directors, and post novitiate formation prior to theology. The workshop at Level II would be based on the second volume in the series titled Critical Understanding of Social Communications. Workshops at Level III is intended for the staff of theological colleges, on-going formation programmes and those who are interested in introducing theology of communication for religious or lay groups. The Level III workshops are based on the third volume, Theological Perspectives in Social Communications.

The nine workshops (three in each level) are being held in Bangalore, Shillong, Kochi, Kolkata, Baroda, Pune, Bhopal and Hyderabad. Each of the Workshops will begin with half-day animation and discussion on the project. Major Superiors, CRI Office bearers, Rectors, Superiors or heads and staff of formation communities in the city or region are invited to this meeting.
