Diocese Celebrates Mother Teresa's Birth Centenary

Along with the rest
of the world Bongaigaon diocese celebrated the birth centenary
of Mother Teresa on August 26 at Christ Light of the World Cathedral
Chapaguri, Bongaigaon. Chairman of the Bongaigaon Municipality
Miss Nomita Dey was the chief guest for the occasion.
The celebration
began with the solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over
by Bishop Thomas Pulloppillil of Bongaigaon. The congregation
mainly consisted of school children from Catholic institutions
in and around Bongaigaon including some lay faithful. For many
of the students especially from St. Francis School, Chaprakata
and Little Flower School, Chapaguri it was their first time
experience to attend Holy Eucharistic celebration. During his
homily bishop urged the people to imitate the example of Mother
Teresa to love the poor.
The Franciscan
Brothers candidates (CMFS) enacted a drama depicting some of
the instances of Mother Teresa’s life. The celebration
ended with a Family meal served by Missionaries of Charity (MC)
Bongaigaon to all those who attended the function.
