Mother
Teresa Was Ready To Laugh, Express Pain And Sorrow, Says Aide
BANGALORE,

A close
associate of Mother Teresa described the “Saint of the
Gutters” as a person who did little things with great
love and concern.
Addressing
a gathering on the occasion of the birth centenary celebration
of Mother, organised at St. Germain’s School here, August
26, Sister Joyce, who worked closely with Blessed Teresa for
12 years, said: “I had the opportunity to work with Mother
in replying to her correspondence, going to government offices
along with her and even having meals with her. I am struck by
how marvellously God has worked through a single human person.
Her love for Jesus and Mary was alive, deep and personal, and
was expressed by doing little things with great love and concern.”
Sister Joyce
also recalled how prompt and diligent Mother was in her prayers
and work. “However late Mother went to bed, she would
be up by 5 o’clock in the morning and be at the chapel.
She enjoyed meeting the rich and the poor alike. She would give
medals (sacred pictures) as her business card to all those who
called upon her.”
Speaking
about Mother Teresa’s relationship with her nuns, Sister
Joyce said she had the great gift of making everyone feel important
and special. “She was ready to listen to the Sisters.
She was ready to laugh, express her feelings of anger, pain
and suffering like all human persons. Mother had a special love
for priests and urged them to be holy.”
