Youth Convention 2010 Held

The
Khandwa diocese in Madhya Pradesh organized a 3-day Youth
Convention, December 27-30. Bishop A.A.S. Durairaj SVD, of
Khandwa inaugurated the event. Declaring 2011 as the Year
of Youth Bishop Durairaj emphasized the theme of the convention
“rooted in faith” as an opportune moment for the
youth to live their faith and to bear witness to it.
During the Eucharistic celebration Bishop
Durairaj SVD, spoke of how different people who have received
God’s call at different intervals in the history of
salvation responded to their call. During the animation sessions
Fr. George Bhuria emphasized the role of youth in the pastoral
activities of the parish. Mr. Joseph K.C stressed the importance
of inculcating leadership qualities, motivational skills and
effective crisis management skills in one's lives. Several
other speakers provided insights into various issues facing
youth today.
Mr. Jaison Thomas, former captain of Indian
Army, in his session, provided the youth gathered with a live
example of motivation, and the power of commitment. On the
final day of the convention, youth planted trees in the Cathedral
premises under the leadership of labor inspector, Mr A.K.
Pochore. The concluding ceremony included a Mass dedicated
to the youth and colorful cultural program in which youth
from every parish participated and performed items.
